Phil and teammates find the Wright formula

Summer came early today as 48 of our family of bowlers turned up at San Remo to compete in our weekly challenge.

Pauline and John signed us all in while Peter once again arranged the teams.

Once the teams were prepared, John reminded everyone to use sunscreen and keep out of the immediate sun.

And out we went.

What a fun day we had.

A lot of excellent bowling was observed around all the rinks.

As usual there was plenty of laughter as well as some fun banter from all corners.

When lunch came, many players could be seen to be quite tired because of the sun, but we all headed back out after the lunch break to continue the fun.

Over the course of the day, we did have a few of our charitable players leave a donation to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

We are always grateful for their selfless acts.

As always we have winners and we have the others.

And today’s winners on a score of 36 were: Michael Dady (S), Margaret Hoy (3), David Talbot (2), Phil Wright (L).

Runners up on a close 35 points were: David Smith (S), Jenny Smith (L), Mick Sheers (3), Ron Hughes (2).

Best One Game today on 19 points were: Michael Saunders (3), Margaret McConville (L), Vern Elliott (S), Robyn Dall (2).

As always we thank the volunteers who keep our Thursday games going.

People like Mark and Mick who look after the bar as well as Clair, Gwen and a few others in the kitchen for all their help.

Next week we will be meeting at Loch and look forward to seeing all our members turn up.

So please remember, be on site by 10am or maybe miss out on a great day’s play.

Till next week, stay safe and have fun.

– Laurie Bell
