Loch it in Laurie! Hanrahan hot in the weekly challenge

The sun was shining bright as members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group gathered at Loch for the playing of the weekly challenge.

What a glorious day it was, with clouds few, the sky blue, and a small amount of wind – direct from the South Pole – to keep the day interesting.

We were signed in today by Gillian and John, with the teams being prepared by Clair and Rob.

Trevor made us feel welcome as he looked after the kitchen (with help from a few of the lovely ladies), he also looked after the bar for our thirsty bowlers.

Thank you also to Brad for clearing up outside after the game.

The green was in excellent condition, as were the players.

There were some complaints from our players about the wind-chill factor making it feel so cold, but that did not detract from the fun on the green as well as the quality of the bowling.

Today’s winners on 39 points were Laurie Bell (3), Jenny Smith (L), Mark Hanrahan (S) and Brad Tobin (2).

Runners up on a score of 36 were Phil Wright (3), Elaine Williams (L), Peter Gratton (S) and Bill Williams (2).

Best One Game winners on 22 points were Peter Thorley (L), Terry Floyd (3), Steve Edge (S) and Gwen Jeffery (2).

A big call out to Peter and Pauline today.

Peter is presently in hospital and we would all like to pass on our best wishes to him.

We look forward to your speedy recovery and your early return to bowls.

Next week we will be meeting up once more at Lang Lang and look forward to seeing all our usual bowlers there.

Please can everyone make an effort and be on site by 10am to allow our lovely helpers enough time to prepare the teams.

So, till then, have fun and stay safe.

-Laurie Bell-
