Pakenham has gone down 4-1 to ladder-leading Rosebud in the Men’s State League 5 South competition.
While a disappointing loss, Rosebud scored 13 goals last week, providing context to their firepower.
That Pakenham was able to stay with them for a half, before conceding two late goals, is a testament to their progress in a short period of time.
Trey Dekker was the only goal scorer, finding the back of the net in the first half.
Meanwhile, a triple to Christian Tsianakas propelled Noble to an 8-0 victory over Casey, Endeavour Hills drew 1-1 with Barton and Bunyip was beaten 1-0 by Seaford.
Pakenham currently sits 11th in the 12-team competition and can’t move from that spot, regardless of the outcome of its last round match against fifth-placed Mount Eliza.
Sixth-placed Endeavour Hills takes on third-placed Aspendale, 10th-placed Casey has eighth-placed Barton, seventh-placed Bunyip will enter as favourites against bottom-placed Cleeland and second-placed Noble will take on ninth-placed Mount Martha.
