Sunny day at Lang Lang sees cream rise to the top

Lang Lang Bowls Club hosted 49 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group for their weekly challenge last Thursday.

The group was greeted by Pauline and John who signed everyone in while Peter and Clair arranged the teams.

The group was greeted by a rather cold day, with a hint of sun and wind, but little did we know that that the wind would increase across the day and affect a lot of our games.

However, all the bowlers seemed to be having fun, as laughter reigned across the green, with the usual banter between the players.

It was great to see a lot of the ‘newer’ players rise to the challenge of the weather and teach some of the long-time players how it was done.

But, as usual, the cream does rise to the top and the weekly winners on a score of 35 were Michael Dady (S), Frank D’Unienville (3), Alan Weeden (L) and Pauline McWilliams (2).

Runners up on a score of 33 were Wayne Stevens (3), Peter Thorley (L) and Luke Monckton (S).

Best One Game winners on 23 points were Ken Harding (S), Elaine Williams (L) and David Talbot (3).

Once again, we would like to thank Peter, Pauline, John and Clair for arranging all the players.

Also, thanks go to Marianne, Colin and Clair N for looking after our thirsty bowlers.

And not to forget Vern and David for preparing the green.

As well as Bev, Clair N, David, Laurie, Vern and anyone else I may have missed for clearing up after the game had finished and we were closing up for the day.

This week we will be heading to Corinella and we look forward to playing there following their recent renovations.

So, if everyone could be on site by 10am to allow our selectors time to prepare the teams, that would be greatly appreciated.

Until then, stay safe and have fun.
