At Pakenham they love to celebrate its players and during its current Outer East Football Netball season have had a record 28 milestone game celebrations.
On Saturday the Lions celebrated senior player, coach, umpire and committee member Hayley Melsen‘s milestone 200th game.
Melsen commenced her journey with Pakenham in 2013 and to date, her distinguished playing career at Pakenham has seen her win many club and league awards.
During her netball pathway Melsen has also played for Victorian Netball League (VNL) side Gippsland Storm, the Pakenham Netball Association and was selected for the Netball Victoria Eastern Talent Academy in 2015.
Melsen commenced coaching for the club in 2016 as part of their important midweek stadium program, where her love of coaching was immediate.
She joined the Saturday coaching team in 2017, which saw her coach her U17 team to the grand final in 2023, where they were runner up.
There was a formal presentation court side before Melsen’s B-Grade game on Saturday with her netball family forming a guard of honour as she took the court.
Congratulations Hayley on a fantastic achievement.
