GARFIELD GOLF
Small fields were the order of play this week as bitterly cold and wet weather played havoc with everyone’s golfing agenda at Garfield Golf Club.
Golfing calendars were so mixed up that only 35 players turned out for Saturday’s game of single par.
Long-time members of the club were left scratching their heads; trying to remember a smaller field size for the main golfing day of the week.
Best in for the day and achieving a great result, considering the conditions, was Nick Gray, playing off just his mark of six, who beat Martin Atkins via a countback decision with a score of +2.
A final score of a miserly -5 was good enough to finish in the prize money.
Thursday’s players had the best weather result this week with just a couple of minor showers during the day for a game of single stableford.
Gary Vitiritti posted the day’s best score by winning the A Grade event with a good round of 38 points, while Michael Anthony won the B Grade event by a countback from Russell Kerr with a score of 34 points.
A final countback round of just 32 points was good enough to feature in the prize money.
Steve Wallace scored a pair of nearest the pins on the 8th and 11th holes.
Just 11 players turned on Monday with David Saint winning the day’s event with a round of 37 points. Saint defeated the irrepressible Karli Van Der Horst who scored three nearest the pins.
This Saturday is a game of Four-Ball Aggregate Stableford.

B Grade: Michael Anthony (27) 34 C/B, second Russell Kerr (20) 34, third Michael Carrigan (17) 33.
