Pakenham on winner’s list

Pakenham is back on the winner’s list with a 2-1 win in the local derby over Bunyip.

After both teams scored one goal in the first half, United was able to take its chance in the second half and defend hard to keep Bunyip from responding.

Malcom Passanise and Liam Brooks were the goal scorers for Pakenham, while Mark Comini was Bunyip’s only goal scorer at IYU Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

The result puts Pakenham level on points with ninth-placed Casey, which went down 5-1 to Seaford on the weekend.

Fifth-placed Endeavour Hills, meanwhile, fought hard against the undefeated Rosebud, going down 1-0.

Pakenham have third-placed Seaford next week, Casey will back itself to beat 12th-placed Cleeland, Bunyip has the tough assignment against Rosebud and Endeavour Hills has second-placed Noble.
