Fast start leads Goon to fourth-straight victory

Nar Nar Goon Over 35s continued their magnificent start to the Veterans season on Sunday with a thumping 14.14(98) to 3.1(19) victory over Tooradin-Dalmore.

Four of the seven rounds have now been completed with the Goon sitting with an unblemished record at the top of the table.

Voltarens, Deep Heat and pre-game rubs worked wonders for the Goon who opened proceedings with a 6.2 to 0.0 first quarter.

Ben Nobelius and Tyson Buckingham led the way early, with Seamus Scanlon, Shannon Stocco and Daniel Galante also getting plenty of touches of red leather.

The Seagulls tightened things up in the second term, with Aaron McGrath, Jason Siegel and Luke Whelan kicking a goal each for the home side to make it three goals each for the quarter.

But the Goon regained ascendency in the second half, booting 5.8 to 0.1 to race, sorry walk, away with a 79-point victory.

The Goon had plenty of options up forward with former Pakenham and Gembrook-Cockatoo star Nathan Brown putting his trusty left foot to good use with two goals, with Buckingham, Stocco, Sean Sierakowski and Lucas Thomas joining Brown on that total.

Galante, Nathan Corrin, Jared Goldsack and Daniel Healey also contributed six pointers.

In other games this week Ben Mayers lit up the forward line, kicking five goals in a 12.4(76) to 7.5(47) win for Devon Meadows over Kilcunda-Bass, while Brent Mounsey also slammed home five as Neerim South got the better of Warragul Industrials at home.

Scott Muir and Ben Petersen also chipped in with two each as the Cats were forced to work hard for their 10.2(62) to 6.10(46) success.

All teams now have two weekends off before returning to the field on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June.

Results R4: Tooradin-Dalmore 3.1(19) v Nar Nar Goon 14.14(98), Neerim South 10.2(62) v Warragul Industrials 6.10(46), Kilcunda-Bass 7.5(47) v Devon Meadows 12.4(76). Bye: Phillip Island.

Ladder R4: Nar Nar Goon 16, Devon Meadows 12, Phillip Island 8, Kilcunda-Bass, Neerim South, Tooradin-Dalmore 4, Warragul Industrials 0.

Fixture R5 (15-16 June): Phillip Island v Tooradin-Dalmore, Neerim South v Kilcunda-Bass, Warragul Industrials v Devon Meadows.
