Gratton gets up on warm day for bowls

Lang Lang turned on a near perfect day for our members today, with mild to warm temperatures, cloud cover to shield us from the sun, and no wind to speak of.

45 of our members turned up to once again fight it out for team of the day.

There was some excellent bowling by some excellent bowlers, with a few wild shots from time to time.

The green was in excellent condition and as always, Lang Lang’s Marianne looked after us in the bar – always much appreciated by our members.

We didn’t see too many wrong bias bowls today but we are once again adding to the Royal Children’s Hospital tin.

A fair amount of friendly sledging as well as a lot of laughter could be heard across the green which makes the day so much fun for all.

It was fantastic to see such happy bowlers on such a great day.

It seems a pity that everyone can’t win the day, but, as always, there can only be one winning team.

Today’s winners on 36 points were Peter Gratton (S), Robyn Dall (3), Max Williams (2), Jim Nunan (L).

Runners Up on 34 points were Steve Bakker (S), Luke Monckton (3), Frank Verco (L).

Best One Game today on 24 points went to Phil Wright (S), David Talbot (3), Ron Fenton (2), Amanda Bozelle (L).

Congratulations to all the winners.

Thanks to David and Vern for cleaning up the greens before and after play, as well as Jenny for her hard work in the kitchen.

Also a big shout out to Marianne for putting out the chairs for all our weary bowlers to sit down on between shots.

Thanks also once again to Peter and Pauline, John and Rob who keep our members coming back again and again.

Next week we look forward to playing at Corinella.

See you all at 10:00AM.

Please be on time to allow our wonderful team to arrange all players before 10:30.

I hope everyone has a great week and look forward to seeing everyone at Corinella.

-Laurie Bell
