‘Goldilocks Day’ at Kooweerup

It was a ‘Goldilocks Day’ for members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group at Kooweerup Bowls Club on Thursday.

The temperature was not too hot…not too cold…it was just right, and, with no wind, it was a perfect day for a game of lawn bowls.

A total of 30 great friends met in overcast, but not too bright conditions on a great green.

It was a touch slow, but that is Kooweerup, running true and a big thank you goes to the greenkeeper.

As usual there was lots of friendly banter going on and sledging was heard in certain parts of the green.

David did an excellent job of setting up the green for our use…he is always so helpful.

Not too many wrong bias bowls today, but the Royal Children’s Hospital tin is still filling nicely and should be good come Easter.

The weekly winners on a score of 36 were Michael Dady (S), Rob Jeffries (3), Mark Daly (2) and Tony Morris (L).

Runners up on a score of 34 were Peter McWilliams, Lindsay Russell (Co-Skips), Frank D’Unienville (3) and Wayne Stevens (L).

Best One Game winners on 24 points were Sue Stansfield (S), Raffaele Merante (3), Bev Elliott (2) and Max Summers (L).

We would like to thank George for keeping the bar open for all our bowlers and to David for cleaning up the kitchen and green.

Also, to Peter for all his hard work making up the teams and working out the winners and the prizes.

And not to overlook Pauline and John for all their hard work too.

Next week we will be heading to Lang Lang which is always fun.

If everyone who is playing could be on site by 10am to allow time for Peter to work his magic, getting the teams set up, that would be greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile, have a great week and to all our pennant players we hope you have a good weekend of playing.
