Midweek bowlers turn out in force

Bowlers from the South West Gippsland Mid-Week Bowling Group turned out in force on Thursday with 40 players taking part in the weekly challenge at the picturesque San Remo Bowls Club.

The weather was reasonable, with wind minimal, rain non-existent; all in all, it was a pretty good day for bowls.

There was lots of laughter around the green from all rinks and friendly banter was heard from all corners.

And there were many happy faces, although some had looks of disappointment when things were going wrong.

But like always, there are winners, and then there is the rest of us.

The weekly winners on a score of 35 points were Peter Gratton (S), Frank D’Unienville (3), Bev Elliott (2) and Bobby Arnold (L).

Runners up, also on a score of 35, but just missing out on a countback were Terry Floyd (S), David Talbot (3), Jan Brown (2) and Jenny Harding (L).

Best One Game winners on 19 points were David Smith (3), Laurie Bell (3), Bill Williams (2) and Tony Morris (L).

Thank you as always to Peter for his organisational work.

His job is not an easy one and we may have to look for some assistance in the coming weeks.

Thanks also as always to Pauline and John for chipping in and thank you also to Gwen in the kitchen and Mark in the bar.

Next week we will be playing at Kooweerup and we look forward to seeing everyone on site by 10am.

Meanwhile, have a good week.
