DROUIN GOLF
A strong field of 105 players contested the Stableford competition at Drouin Golf Club on Saturday.
It was a tight contest in A Grade with three players all tying on 38 points.
It was a strong back nine of 20 points from John Piner that ended up claiming victory.
Ryan Hammond finished runner up with a very impressive 66 off the stick.
Paul Barratt was the winner of B Grade with 39 points, while John Hutcheon finished runner up with 37 points on a countback.
C Grade was won by David Lillis with 37 points, one point ahead of runner up Tim Shannon with 36 points on a countback.
The top two scores for the day came in D Grade.
Damon Whaley shot an impressive 42 points on his way to winning, with Graeme Steel runner up on 40 points.
The Super-6 prize went to Graham Austin.
Down the lines went to Bob Simpson 38, Rod Gardner 37, Peter Phillips 37, Jim Bransgrove 37, Jack Henning 36, Tony Piner 36, Stuart Whaley 36, Dylan O’Rourke 36, John Roach 36, Sam Gillies 35, Ian Bertolotti 35, Glenn Rees 35, Eddy Van Der Plight 35 and Geoff Percival 35.
T.H. winners were Paul Barratt and Jamie Sparrow
Nearest the pins went to 5th Bernie Coyle (Commercial Hotel Warragul, 8th Glenn Ward (Sharkey’s Barbershop), 10th Marg Purcell (Siam Pesto Restaurant) and 14th Matt Guy (Pro Pin).
Wednesday
With the spring weather now in full swing, another strong field contested the mid-week Stableford competition.
In A Grade, winner Shane Dwyer carded three birdies on his way to 38 points.
Peter Downward finished runner up with 35 points.
Simon Caygill was the top scorer for the day and also won B Grade with a score of 39 points.
It was a four-way battle for the runners up in B Grade, with Rob Piner eventually prevailing on a countback with 37 points.
Winner in C Grade was George Shand with 38 points, and Jim Defoe finished runner up with 37 points.
The Super 6 prize went to Peter Mitchell.
Down the lines went to Benny Wyatt 37, Nick Mazza 37, Paul McInnes 37, Ron Tomasetti 36, Glenn Bayne 35, Rob McCrae 35, Ray Haley 35, Collin Kennard 35, Roger Crow 35, Mick Lithgow 34 and Basil Bate 34.
Nearest the pins went to 5th Dave Johnson, 8th Pete Downward, 10th Gordon Warren and 14th Glenn Bayne.
Sunday
The medley Stableford event for Sunday was won by Josh Maric with 44 points.
Upcoming competitions are Stableford on Wednesday and Sunday, while Saturday’s competition is a 4BBB Stableford.
DROUIN LADIES
The Drouin ladies held their AGM on Tuesday September 12 and then played a 2-Person Ambrose event over nine holes.
The winners were Valerie Crow and Dagma Forbes.
Runners up were Wendy Hitchins and Judy Bibby.
Saturday 16 September was an individual Stableford event for the ladies, with Vanessa Campbell (27) on fire with 38 points.
Runner up was Marg Purcell (21) with 35 points.
This week is a Stableford Multiplier event.
Tuesday September 26 is an Individual Stableford event followed by the October Monthly Medal on October 3.
