The social awareness of the Pakenham Eels Rugby League Club was highlighted again recently with the Eels hosting an All-Abilities Clinic for anyone with intellectual or physical disabilities.

Held in conjunction with the Eels last game of the home-and-away season, it was a special day for the club who had eight participants register and participate…aged from four, to 13 years of age.

“It was great to see the participants join in on an introduction to rugby league, with a focus on motor skill development and basic drills in a safe, fun and friendly environment,” said Michael Winter from the Eels.

“This was a really successful day and we received some amazing feedback.

“Our club is passionate about delivering this type of program on a more regular basis and a sub-committee is now working towards our next event and incorporating this in to normal fixtures.

“Since the initial event, we have been in contact with the Cardinia Shire Council who have expressed their interest in supporting our All-Abilities program and making it a permanent fixture.

“Being that we are right around the corner from the Officer Specialist School, and with nothing else of its type in Cardinia Shire or surrounds, we feel this is well needed.”
