McWilliams and Russell reign supreme at San Remo

Bowlers in the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group battened down the hatches and made their way to Corinella for the latest weekly challenge.

The rain had fallen overnight, and the green was quite damp with thick dew, but the weather was very welcoming, so 29 of the bowling family took to the green on a fine winter’s day.

As always lots of laughter and friendly banter could be heard from all corners of the rink.

After the lunch break the weather turned very much to spring as most bowlers shed their coats and jumpers as the sun beat down, making it a wonderful day overall.

One or two wrong bias bowls were played to keep the Royal Children’s Hospital tin filling…and we are always happy to see this happening.

Phil looked after us in the bar as well as the kitchen.

Peter, Pauline and John looked after everyone and prepared the draw as well as the raffles. We thank them very much as well.

As always we have winners, and we have the rest of us, and this week’s winners on 35 points were Peter McWilliams and Lindsay Russell (Co Skips), Luke Monckton (3), Pauline McWilliams (2) and Tony Morris (L).

Runners up, also on a score of 35 points, were Tony Heppleston (S), Ken Barnes (3) and Bill Williams (L).

And the Best One Game winners this week were Vern Elliott (S), Chris Brooks (3) and Kevin Kitchin (L).

Next week we will congregate at San Remo to continue this challenge.

We look forward to seeing everyone there at 10am for a now traditional 10:30 start.

Meanwhile we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable week.
