Cardinia Waters Bowls Club has a new leadership team after the recent Annual General Meeting.

Michele Bondfield was elected President taking over from Brian Stevens.

Michele is the first woman to lead the bowls club, after spending time on the committee, and as treasurer for several years.

There was an excellent turn-out of members at the meeting, which saw all vacant positions filled.

The Club Executive are:

President: Michele Bondfield, Secretary: Del Dance, Treasurer: Ian Kennedy. Committee members are Jim Barrie, John Moore, Ray Naylor and John Van Vugt.

An election was required for the five vacant Selection Committee positions.

Bowls Clubs normally find these positions difficult to fill and it was pleasing to see eight nominations. After the poll was declared the selectors for season 2023-24 are John Moore (Chair), Tom Gogan, Ray Naylor, Marion Stevens and John Van Vugt.

No election was required for the balance of the Committee positions.

For the coming season the Match Committee will be Terry Nye, Robert Mitchell, Peter Mitchell, Sue Pors and Paul Brindle.

The Tournament Committee will consist of Kaye Hale, Ray Naylor, Stuart Tokely and Bryan Stevens.

Outgoing President Brian Stevens thanked the meeting for supporting him in the past year, and wished his successor and the club much success in the future.

Outgoing Treasurer Michele Bondfield reported a small surplus for the past season.

Club income had been affected by illness and a reduction in player numbers, making the surplus acceptable.

The focus of the club will now turn to the next Pennant Season and already many players have expressed interest in playing during the next season.

Names are required by June 30 to enable team registration.
