Young athletes do Pakenham proud

Up and coming stars from Pakenham Little Athletics came away with a bumper haul of medals from the Regional Track and Field Championships held at Casey Fields on the weekend.

Pakenham won a total of 40 medals at the championships, with 12 gold, 12 silver and 16 bronze medals making their way back to Toomuc Reserve.

Liam Piccolo and Zahri Burn were the two standout performers for Pakenham, winning five and three gold medals respectively.

Several other athletes form Pakenham also made their presence felt, with new Away Centre Records.

Lily Wouters broke records in both the 1500m (5:59.31) and 800m (2:45.51), while Liam Piccolo smashed the clock in both the 400m (55.95) and 100m hurdles (14.39).

Mollie McNamara set a new benchmark in the 200m hurdles (34.52), while Victor Sangalang produced a great time (2:33.06) in the 800m.
