Eaton the first thrower of perfection

The South West Gippsland Dart League (SWGDL) is back up and running for the new year with the growth of the competition seeing 11 teams competing for this year’s title.

The SWGDL has continued to build in recent seasons, and a strengthened number of committee members this year is a clear indicator that the competition hasn’t stopped growing yet.

Moving the SWGDL headquarters to the Cardinia Club on Racecourse Road in Pakenham has attracted new teams and new members to the league.

The SWGDL welcomes a new team this season, with The Hoodies playing out of the Robin Hood Inn near Drouin.

Round one of competition saw some spectacular highlights with Paul Eaton from the Warriors throwing the first of what is sure to be many 180’s for the season.

Dean, a regular at the top of the leaderboard, threw seven tons for the evening, one clear of Noel from Pakyone, with Aaron, Ant and Tim all throwing five tons on the opening night of competition.

Tony from Just Social has the first 100-peg for the season, with his 106 the highlight finish of the night.

All five matches in round one were relatively one-sided, with Rebels, Warriors, Snipers, Just Social and Pakyone filling the top five places on the ladder.

The newest team to the competition – The Hoodies – will open their SWGDL journey this week after having a bye in round one.

Ladder: Rebels 14, Warriors 14, Snipers 12, Just Social 11, Pakyone 10, Gembrook 5, Bullseyes 4, Mud Rats 3, Fore 1, 26ers 1, The Hoodies 0.
