Selleck shines with 50 stableford points

DEEP CREEK GOLF

It was dream conditions for those who love to open the shoulders and go low at Deep Creek Golf Club on Saturday with recent rains resulting in several holes being reduced in distance.

At first glimpse the scoring looks spectacular, with Maddison Selleck (36) scoring an astonishing 50 points to win B Grade by eight shots from Kelsey Davies (33) on 42.

Leon Mateariki (8) won A Grade, scoring 41 points to win via a countback from Matt Lloyd (8).

Down the lines went to John Piggott 42, Bodhi Leguier 42, Brian Webster 40, Mick Boyd 40, Andrew Heagney 40, Graeme Durran 40, Bob Naismith 39, Tom Marshall 39, Grant Wilson 39, Steven Van Ingen 38, Mark Hatton 38, Mark Stewart 38, Kevin Sutton 38 and Steven Van Roy 37.

Nearest the pins went to: 2nd: John Curtin (5m) and 16th: David Bell (1.81m).

Two eagles were scored on the day, with Glenn Rees scoring a two on the fifth hole and David Bell matching that achievement on the 13th.

A stableford competition was also played on Wednesday with David McMahon (11) relishing the tough conditions to score 36 points for a five-shot win over Chris Dalton and Tony Sheahan.

Chris McConnell was four shots back from the runners up with 27 points.

McMahon also won the SuperComp Front 9 with a modest total of 15 points.
