CARDINIA WATERS BOWLS

Midweek Bowls Report

Side one produced some great bowling in atrocious weather to defeat top-of-the-ladder Keysborough at the Cardinia Waters green last Tuesday.

Players faced all weather seasons, including a spell of hail which halted play for nearly half an hour.

Starting slowly Cardinia Waters soon found their bowling rhythm and completed the game with a resounding 35-shot victory.

Final scores were 76-41, and all three rinks up.

The 16 points gained has assisted side one to take fourth spot on the ladder.

The loss saw Keysborough tumble from top to third spot.

Best winning rink for Cardinia Waters was Bryan Stevens, John Moore, Del Dance and Peter Mitchell. This foursome started slowly, but powered over their opponents keeping Keysborough scoreless from end eight to end 20.

They scored two sixes and many other multiples in their 36-10 win.

The John Van Vugt, Ray Naylor, Tom Gogan and Jill Naylor combination seemingly had their game in control, however a Keysborough fight back cut their winning score down to 20-15.

Completing the rout against Keysborough was the rink of Bill Hite, Steve Hale, Dennis Patmore and Robert Mitchell who won 20-16.

In this game the lead fluctuated often and the Cardinia Waters team had their noses in front at the conclusion.

There will be no midweek Pennant games next week, and on November 29 Cardinia Waters side one travels to Noble Park.

Meanwhile side two had no luck whatsoever at Cranbourne.

In similar conditions to their home team the seconds also had to put up with a very slow and heavy turf green.

Cranbourne easily eclipsed Cardinia Waters winning all three rinks by a cumulative 19 shots.

After the Vic Open break next week side two has a bye.

Then the second half of season commences and they play Dandenong RSL Rec on the Keysborough green.

In an interesting twist these two teams are currently equal second on the ladder.

Both have played six and won three games and have 50 points apiece.
