Clash of the heavy hitters

A thrilling round 17 is about to sort the contenders from the pretenders in the South West Gippsland Dart League (SWGDL).

The top-two teams in the competition – Just Social and Snipers – are set for a huge battle in the penultimate round of the season, while third and fourth placed Warriors and Paky One are also scheduled to lock horns.

All matches in round 17 look very even with just two rounds remaining in the season.

Just Social continued its path towards an undefeated campaign after the team from Kooweerup overcame a strong challenge from Warriors in round 16.

Warriors, looking to catch Snipers in the race for second spot, pushed Just Social throughout the night but the ladder leaders responded in typical style.

Just Social emerged with a 10-5 victory to take its record to 16 consecutive wins.

Snipers capitalised on the Warriors’ loss, moving a game clear in second place with a 12-3 victory over Gembrook.

Aaron threw nine tons for Snipers, and Dean seven, in a completely dominant display.

Rebels completed the first whitewash of the season, belting Fore 15-0 in a real show of strength.

The Rebels have now won three of their last four matches, and pushed Warriors in the other, and are finishing their season off in true style.

The two remaining games in round 16 were both nail-biters.

Paky One shook off a brave challenge from Wizards, winning 8-7, while Bullseyes won by the same score line over Mud Rats.

Spectators are most welcome to attend the Tuesday-night matches in the SWGDL, with games beginning at 7.30pm at the home of darts – the Cardinia Club in Pakenham.
