The Pakenham men’s basketball team has rebounded impressively from two consecutive losses with two strong wins on the weekend.

The men’s victories over Maccabi (90-70) and Melton (118-54) get them back on track and have lifted their season record to 11-4.

The Warriors occupy second position on the ladder with seven rounds to go including Gippsland next up after the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

Meanwhile, the Championship Women were consigned to their third consecutive defeat.

Finals now become a tricky proposition for the women who have a difficult run home and are now two games outside the top four, their latest loss coming against McKinnon by eight points 68-60).

Haille Nickerson scored 19 points and fellow recruit Anastasia Williams – who has just arrived in Australia – got 19 minutes of court time.

The youth league women beat Camberwell by 18 points to remain fifth and the youth league men beat Melton 123-95 to improve their record to 10-2.

Dylan Jenkinson was outstanding for the Warriors with 35 points, while Jake Barnard (16 points), Michael Johns (13) and Cooper Lanting (13) also played key roles in the victory.

Big V basketball takes a break this week before competition resumes on Saturday 18 June.
