Roberts reigns supreme at Drouin

The final round of the 2022 Drouin Ladies Club Championships were played last Tuesday in perfect conditions.

In the daily event, the A Grade winner was Sharon Rippon (18) with a 71 nett, with Judy Dixon (19) runner up with 73 nett.

In B Grade, Marg Murray (48) was the winner with 72 nett from Ethel Manley (32) also on 72 nett.

Down the line balls went to: Robyn Carville (43) and Deb Daniel (28) 73 nett and Monica Gidley (34) with 74 nett.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Anne Neilsen, 8th Wendy Hitchins, 10th Shirley Roberts and 14th Mary Tymensen.

2022 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Drouin Ladies Club Champion and Silver Gross winner is Shirley Roberts (10) with a combined scratch score over three rounds of 255.

Bronze 1 winner was Judy Dixon (19) on 289 and Bronze 2 winner was Sue Hatfield (30) on 318.

Edna Cropley Trophy and Silver Handicap winner was Sharon Rippon (18) on 224 nett. Bronze 1 Handicap winner was Deb Daniel (29) on 228 nett on a countback from Jan Stone.

And the Bronze 2 Handicap winner was Monica Gidley (35) with a score of 226 nett, winning on a countback from Kay Grieve.

On Saturday 12 March the Two-Person Ambrose winners were Di Sullivan and C Horwood (6.5 team handicap) with a nett score of 70.5.

Friday is our Open Day on 18 March which is a 4BBB event. Next Tuesday 22 March the course is closed so the Ladies Day will be held on Thursday 24 March instead.

Saturday

The Don Piner Two-Person Ambrose Memorial Day was played on Saturday in fantastic weather conditions, with only a slight breeze and bright sunny skies.

A total of 40 pairings played on the day with Kevin Johnson and Mark Johnson winning by a quarter of a stroke with 60.50. Runners up were Tim Bethune and Brad Bennett with 60.75.

Balls down the line went to Paul Duivenvoorden and Brian Tollkuhn 63.25, Mark Allen and Glenn Robinson 63.25, Christian Stoker and Gary Florence 63.50 and Phil Adams and Danny Gorman with 63.50.

Nearest the pins went to Chris Horner 5th, Paul Matthews 8th, Kay Feaver 10th and Kelly Belcher 14th.

Wednesday

A solid field of 89 players played in Wednesday’s Par Competition with Marc Alberts top scoring for the day and winning B Grade with +4.

C Grade went to Michael Duddy with +3 and A Grade saw three players all finish square with the card with a strong back nine seeing Craig Armstrong finishing on top via a count back.

Balls down the line went to John Roach, Ian Hemphill, Ron Tomasetti, Paul Barratt, Kerry Neilson and Jock Granger, all with +1, and to Lea Caldwell Ian Urquhart for finishing square.

Nearest the pins went to Neil Wyatt 5th, Jim Bransgrove 8th, Jurg Pulfer 10th and Greg Roberts 14th.

Next week’s events for Wednesday and Saturday are both Stableford.
