Pakenham medicare urgent care clinic delivering for local community

Since opening on 16 December 2025, the Pakenham Medicare Urgent Care Clinic has been delivering for residents of Pakenham.

Located at 17 John Street Pakenham, the Pakenham Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is open extended hours, seven days a week.

There have already been almost 1,500 presentations to the Pakenham Medicare Urgent Care Clinic since it opened.

No appointment is needed, patients can walk in and all services are bulk billed.

The highly trained doctors and nurses are equipped to treat a range of conditions and injuries that need urgent attention but aren’t life threatening, including cuts, viral infections, or a sprained ankle.

Over one in four of these were patients aged under 15 years old, more than one in four were on weekends, and one in four were weekday after hours visits (at or after 5pm).

This is part of the Albanese Government’s commitment to deliver more Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across the country with 4 out of 5 Australians to live within a 20 minutes drive from their local clinic.

Once all new clinics have been established, there will be a total of 29 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across Victoria.

Labor’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinics have already seen more than 2.6 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023. This includes almost 559,000 presentations to Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across Victoria.

The Pakenham Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is commissioned by the South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network.

Senator Lisa Darmanin said “when accidents happen, nobody wants to spend their time in an emergency department waiting room.

The Pakenham Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is exactly the kind of service families in Melbourne’s growing suburbs want: bulk billed, open extended hours and close to home.”

Dr Ray Tseng said as a local GP, he knows what a difference this new clinic means for the growing Pakenham community.

“Now they have access to urgent medical care quickly and close to home, with seamless links to primary care,” he said.

“The clinic helps reduce pressure on hospitals, letting emergency departments focus on life-threatening conditions, and importantly, there are no costs.”
