Bessie Creek Road will soon be fully sealed with Stage 2 upgrade works now underway in Nar Nar Goon North.
As part of the Better Local Roads – Strategic Sealed Roads program, the full 5.3km unsealed length of Bessie Creek Road is being sealed to improve safety, connectivity and long-term road conditions for the community.
Following the completion of Stage 1 works in 2025, Stage 2 will seal the remaining 3.1km unsealed section of Bessie Creek Road from Halifax Road to the Gembrook Road intersection..
Stage 2 works include:
-Spray sealing and road pavement construction
-Landslip rectification
-Culvert works
-Signage and line marking
The Bessie Creek Road project is delivered by the council and funded through the federal government’s Roads to Recovery program. A contractor has been appointed, and construction is expected to be completed by June 2026 , weather and site conditions permitting.
The Strategic Sealed Roads program focuses on sealing local roads that provide strategic links to the broader network, improve road safety, support sustainable infrastructure and reduce environmental impacts such as dust and run-off.
During construction, traffic management will be in place to maintain community safety and access. While the council will work to minimise disruptions, residents may experience temporary increases in noise and traffic.
A temporary road closure at the Halifax Road intersection will be required for up to 5 weeks to allow these works to be completed safely. Detours will be in place and access to all properties will be maintained throughout the works. Delays are expected while construction is underway, people are asked to plan ahead.
The council says they appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as they work to deliver these important improvements.
