A devastating fire has left a Pakenham family without a home and hoping their two beloved pets pull through after being caught in the inferno.
The fire began around 9.30am on Thursday in Silver Gum Estate, with firefighters responding to the blaze, which started at the rear of the home.
Despite a swift response by authorities, the house sustained heavy damage, and the two dogs, who were the sole occupants at the time, are in intensive care.
The owners, a family with two young children, wish to remain anonymous at this stage.
The family has now lost their home and is hoping their beloved pets pull through.
The house suffered serious internal damage, with the majority of the family’s possessions destroyed in the flames.
A friend of the family started a fundraiser, saying that “clothes, furniture, kids’ toys, school items, family photos, all of it is gone.”
“We’ve set this up to help ease even a small part of the burden they’re facing. Any donation, no matter how small, will go towards immediate essentials, vet bills and helping them get back on their feet during the long road ahead,” they wrote on GoFundMe.
