Record broken by caring volunteers

Volunteers at Frankie’s Community Kitchen in Warragul have produced more meals in a single night than ever before, setting a new internal record.

Kitchen manager Luke confirmed Di Price’s group — including Di, Nicole, Heather, Kaz, Jody, Alison and Kylie — cooked 1,566 quiches and packed 219 soups in one night.

“This is a record night for us here, a total of one night that we used to hope for in a week,” Luke said.

“While it is great to celebrate these moments, it’s important to remember how unfortunate it is that these meals are needed in the community.

“We always remember who we are doing this here for at Frankies Kitchen but it is also important to acknowledge the hard-working volunteers making the food with heart and love, and pushing it out for those in need. Three cheers for the team.”

Chairperson Geoff Manson highlighted that “there wasn’t, and never really is, an “attempt” to break records at Frankie’s Community Kitchen”.

“Every time our volunteers put on an apron, they’re not doing it for accolades or numbers,” he said.

“They’re doing it because they want to create a positive lasting impact in their local community. That shared purpose is what drives everything we do.

“Every volunteer embodies our mission to ‘help others, simply because we can’, and sometimes when all those things align, the outcome is pretty special.”

Despite any challenges that arose, the team remained focused on working together to achieve results.

“What we saw that night was simply the outcome of strong team cohesion, good preparation, and people showing up with the right intent,” Mr Mason said.

He added that while the session marked the kitchen’s best single-night output to date, it represents just a fraction of the 100,000-plus meals all teams will produce across the year.

“The real story is the consistency of our volunteers and the culture they’ve built,” Mr Mason said.

“It’s about showing up week after week with care, humility, and a genuine desire to help. That’s what creates lasting impact, and that’s what we’re most proud of.”
