Berwick man’s Christmas windfall

A Berwick man’s Christmas tree isn’t the only thing sparkling after a call on the job revealed he’d scored a Keno win of more than $185,000.

The merry resident scored the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 335, drawn Tuesday 23 December. He pocketed a total prize of $185,887.90.

When an official from Keno reached out to the unsuspecting man, he was swept off his feet in the excitement.

“Whoa! That’s a nice Christmas present!” he laughed.

“That’s unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. I’m shocked.

“My wife and I usually play if we go out for dinner, but we’ll occasionally play a ticket online.

“It’s going to come in very handy for us. We actually have a family member not doing well. Now we’ll be able to visit them.

“I’ve got to call my wife. I can tell her we can get that new fridge she’s been wanting.

“I’m glad I’ll be finished with work soon because I’m not sure I’d be too good at focusing after this call.

“Such an awesome win and right before Christmas too. We’ve never won something like this ever.

“I can’t believe this. What a great end to the year!”

His winning Keno Classic 9 Spot entry was purchased online via The Keno app.

In FY25, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 76 million wins collectively worth more than $1.2 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 20 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $57.9 million. Two of these major winners were from Victoria, including a Melton man who pocketed more than $2 million.
