The Garfield Christmas Festival returned on December 12, bringing festive cheer and community spirit to the township.
Revived in 2014, the festival had grown into one of Garfield’s most popular annual events, with a strong focus on family-friendly, community-based fun. Local residents Jenny and fellow volunteers were part of the group that reintroduced the festival, helping to establish it as a much-loved annual tradition.
A standout feature again this year was the Adopt a Christmas Tree project. Organised by the Garfield Community Association Inc, Christmas trees were purchased and installed along Garfield Main Street, then adopted and decorated by local families and businesses, giving the town a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
This year, activities were held across Garfield Football Club and Cannibal Creek Bakehouse grounds. These included a best-dressed dog competition followed by a handball competition. Santa arrived at the cenotaph, and the celebrations concluded with a fireworks display at the oval.
