Cuddly critters arrive for Christmas

Cuddly critters have arrived just in time for Christmas, thanks to the efforts of Pakenham Purls member Michele Ashworth.

On Thursday 4 December, Michele donated her 50 toys to the local Christmas Together Appeal at the Salvation Army.

All knitted and crocheted by herself over the past 12 months, the huggable plushies will provide a bit of comfort for children in need.

“I have had so much fun,” Michele said.

“I’ve nearly knitted a zoo and I hope they bring joy and happiness to children this Christmas.”

Michele is a member of Pakenham Purls, a social knitting and crocheting group that has a hectic time during the festive season.

Fellow purlers Chris and Elaine from Nar Nar Goon have knitted toys, beanies, children’s clothes and teddies throughout the year that will be donated to the Salvation Army and Our Village.

Members also participate in the Pakenham Social Craft Group.

Bunyip’s Marg has made and donated necklaces, jewellery and bags for kids this Christmas.

Pakenham Purls meets on the first Sunday of the month from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Pakenham Library and on the third Wednesday of the month at 6.30 pm at the Railway Hotel, Pakenham.

Pakenham Social Craft Group meets on Fridays from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Revel Church, Factory 4, 25 Bald Hill Road, Pakenham.

For more information, you can reach out to both groups on Facebook or email pakenhampurls@gmail.com
