Race through the hills huffs and puffs

There was a lot of huffs and puffs on feet and rail this weekend with the return of the Puffing Billy Running Festival.

Thousands of runners of all ages raced the iconic train through the hills over Saturday and Sunday.

Hosting a 1.2km junior dash, a 5km family fun run and a competitive 13.5km run from Belgrave to Emerald Lake Park, many runners puffed alongside the almost 125-year-old rail line.

Michael Tosin and Charlotte McShane were the winners of the day, beating Puffing Billy with a time of 45:16 and 54:34, respectively.

Liam Davies and Heidi Kuppler won the 5km, and Joshua Bryant and Siena Keramaris came first in the 1.2km dash.

Driver Max and team on train one of the Puffing Billy recorded a strong time of 1:03:21.
