Gippsland legend Frank Scadden fondly remembered for his decades behind the wheel of a livestock truck, has passed away at the age of 86.
From Bayles, Mr Scadden was an icon of the local farming community, having spent six decades carting cattle that made him widely known from the paddocks to the saleyards.
He was an active resident at home, he was once referred to as the “unofficial mayor of Bayles” and was a Life Member of the Catani Football & Netball Club where he previously served as President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Mr Scadden died on Monday 25 August, commemorations from across the region flowed shortly after the news spread.
Elders Pakenham said he was “a true legend and an even better man.”
Alex Scott & Staff paused cattle sales on the Leongatha floor yesterday for minute’s silence to pay tribute to Mr Scadden.
“He has been an icon in the industry,” Livestock Representative Glenn Barwick said.
“From Newmarket, Dandenong, Pakenham, through to here. We’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about Frank, he was always there to help you and he will be sadly missed.”
Mr Scadden is survived by his wife Tup, their children Wendy, Kerry and Travis, and their families.
