Book Week with authors Graeme and Julia Cann

1. What book are you currently reading, and what drew you to it?

Julia: I am currently reading “Thank God its Monday” by Paul Bartlett.

2. What is your favourite book of all time, why does it stand out to you, and would you recommend it to others?

Julia: My favourite book of all time is the Bible. For me it is the source of wisdom and truth that I need. I read a chapter of it every day.

Graeme: All of my life I have been fascinated by Allegory. My favourite book is The Chronicles of Narnia by C,S Lewis I also am a fan of R.Tolkien.

3. What is your favourite thing about reading, and why do you think it is so important?

Julia: I find reading both stimulating and relaxing. It is also great to talk to others about what I am reading. I belong to a ‘Writers Group and have been greatly encouraged by others stories.

Graeme: as an author my encouragement to aspiring writers is to start writing. Many people dream about writing but never do. Make sa start. Write a chapter and if you can ask somebody to read it and comment on it. Then set aside times in your week when you will write.

4. What advice would you give to aspiring writers in our community?

Julia: as a co-author of two books I encourage people to tell their story. Everybody has a unique story that will challenge and encourage those who read it.

5. What legacy would you like your books to leave for future generations?

Graeme: I want my legacy as a writer to be twofold. One is to help people find practical guidelines and principles for living their lives in a fruitful way. The second is that people will know that writing a book is something that can be done by almost anyone.
