Turn up the heat

A petition calling on Cardinia Shire Council to raise the temperature of the changerooms and 25-metre pool at Cardinia Life has been formally accepted, following a unanimous vote by councillors at the 21 July council meeting.

The petition, titled “increase temperature of Cardinia Life changerooms and 25m pool”, was launched by local resident Margaret Moore on 25 June 2025.

In their statement of grievance, petitioners say the cold environment impacts their comfort (particularly in winter months) and discourages them from returning.

“Users of the changeroom at Cardinia Life express their displeasure of the cold temperatures of the changerooms and 25m pool at Cardinia Life centre,” the statement reads.

They note that the issue has previously been raised with both Cardinia Life staff and Cardinia Council and representatives, with little progress.

They also note that the issue has been raised in the past with both Cardinia Life staff and council representatives, but little progress has been made.

The petition has now been formally addressed to Cardinia Shire Council, Pakenham Mayor Jack Kowarzik, and the owners and management team of Cardinia Life in the hope that stronger action will be taken

The lead petitioner, Moore, will also be notified about the progress and outcome of the petition.
