Police investigate Drouin collision

Police are investigating after a serious crash in Drouin on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to reports that a silver Holden Barina had rolled down an embankment on the Princes Freeway near Francis Avenue at about 11.50pm.

The driver, and sole occupant, was trapped inside the vehicle which had caught fire.

Responding police, along with a member of the public who had stopped to assist, managed to pull the driver from the burning car.

A 48-year-old Warragul man was flown to hospital with serious injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined.

Witnesses have reported seeing the Holden driving alongside another vehicle in the Drouin CBD a short time before the crash.

Officers are appealing for the driver of the vehicle to come forward.
