Yakkerboo has bounced into town with a spectacular 2025 that proves it keeps the community spirit alive almost 50 years from its inception.
Despite patches of rain, thousands attended the 49th Yakkerboo over the weekend at PB Ronald Reserve.
For volunteers and the committee, it was a triumphant year to see Mr Yakkerboo grace Pakenham for another year.
“It was amazing, the biggest turnout in years,” Yakkerboo committee President Megan Schouten said.
“It means a lot to us all for different reasons, some of us have been with Yakkerboo since the start and others have been with it for many years.
“We want to make it really special for the 50th next year.”
Among the rides, market stalls and performances, many local groups and businesses gathered to support Yakkerboo, especially at the footpath parade on Sunday morning.
Not to mention Saturday evening, which ended with the titular fireworks display.
On Sunday, Mayor Jack Kowarzik was the master of ceremonies, an all-day job once filled by one of his predecessors, Graeme Moore.
One of the most unique events of Pakenham, the enduring festival acts as a touchstone for the community.
“Pakenham is so big now, Yakkerboo is about bringing the community back together,” Ms Schouten said.
The committee thanked everyone who attended the festival, as well as all the volunteers and sponsors who made it happen.
