In a vibrant display of unity and cultural pride, Orchard Park Primary School (OPPS) came together to celebrate the annual Harmony Day on 20 March.
Harmony Day embodies the values of inclusivity, respect, and belonging that define our diverse Australian community.
Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world, with great people coming from far and wide to call Australia home.
OPPS proudly celebrates its rich cultural diversity, with 98 students speaking a language other than English at home. The school’s vibrant community is also home to 30 students born overseas, from 28 different countries.
“This a testament to the rich cultural diversity the school community is made up of,” OPPS spokesperson said.
“Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. It makes Australia a great place to live and is an integral part of our national identity. We are incredibly proud of our own multicultural community here at OPPS and the many diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds from which we come.”
OPPS is grateful to have some of our students and families share their incredible cultures as part of the whole school harmony parade.
Students and families shared their vibrant cultures through song, personal stories, dance, and instruments, celebrating diversity with pride. The majority of the school wore orange or cultural attire, embracing the spirit of unity and inclusion.
