Cardinia Fun Run returns

Despite the weather being a bit colder than usual this year, many runners got a good sweat going in the Cardinia Fun Run of 2025.

Held on Sunday 2 March at Deep Creek Reserve, many local participants joined the 10km and 5km runs as well as the 5km walk.

Many groups were represented such as Pakenham Road Runners. About 300 people participated across the three events.

Pakenham local Andrew Thorpe recently returned from the Great World Race which sees runners tackling a gruelling seven marathons across seven continents in just seven days.

Thorpe was the fastest in the 10km run and was the only runner to finish it in under 40 minutes.

Tony Petersen was the fastest in the 5km where he just beat little athletes running close behind, Madhurya Ranasinghe and Jobe Tomek.

Young star William Rowe certainly knows how to power walk. Completing the 5km walk in just 23 minutes to be the fastest on the day.

While the run was happening, the Cardinia Environment Coalition was holding their annual Clean Up Australia Day event at Deep Creek.
