Rodeo returns

It was a wild weekend of daring cowboys and cowgirls as the Bunyip Rodeo returned for 2025.

Despite patchy weather, about 2500 gathered at the Bunyip Recreation Reserve on Saturday 15 February.

Locals saw competitors from all over the country thrill in the key events such as barrel racing, bronc riding and, of course, bull riding.

About 200 local volunteers help make the rodeo happen each year.

Money raised is divided up through the year to the respective community groups throughout Bunyip.

A community-centred event that brings people from all over, the day means tens of thousands going back into the local area.

“Thanks go to everyone who supports the rodeo, the sponsors and the many volunteers,” Bunyip Rodeo President Alan Wright said.
