It was all things fleece and craft on the weekend as people gathered to spin their yarns in more ways than one at the annual Pakenham Woolcraft Day.
Organised by the Victorian Black and Coloured Sheep Breeders Association of Australia, Sunday 22 September saw storeholders and enthusiasts from far and wide show off many colours of wool and the various ways to craft them.
The event is the main day for the association and its members to showcase their work, attracting attendees from far and wide.
Being held at Pakenham Hall for the last several years, the event has previously been located in Lang Lang and Cranbourne.
“It was a good day, last year was a bit quieter, this year we had a line out the door at 9.30am,” association president Steph Bechaz said.
“Everyone loves the location of Pakenham, a central location and easy to get to, we had people come from hours away from Morwell to the other side of the city.”
“We have found that it is very popular in the area with a lot of local spinners and weavers.”
Having not run during the covid years, the event has bounced back considerably with the prospect of expanding with another annual event in a different location potentially on the horizon.
“We would like to thank all the store holders for supporting the event and donating to the raffle, as well as all the customers who attended,” Bechaz said.
