After months of being blocked off, the southbound lanes of McGregor Road are back open at the intersection with Henry Road and Webster Way.
Two lanes in each direction are now open between the intersection and the freeway, improving capacity and making it easier for drivers to move around Pakenham on and off the Princes Freeway.
Major Road Projects Victoria said crews will place the final layers of asphalt on the upgraded roads in November when weather conditions are more suitable.
“We’ve ticked off another major milestone on the Pakenham Roads Upgrade with our project crews reopening the Webster Way/Henry Road intersection on Monday morning,“ MRPV Program Director Brendan Pauwels said.
“Increasing capacity and decreasing congestion in and around this busy area of town, the Pakenham Roads Upgrade is creating better access to the Princes Freeway and making significant progress in improving Pakenham’s road network.“
The Pakenham Roads Upgrade is part of a wider investment in improving transport infrastructure in Pakenham. This includes the removal of the level crossings at Racecourse Road, McGregor Road and Main Street, upgrades to the Pakenham train station and the development of a new train station at East Pakenham, and upgrades to Healesville-Kooweerup Road between Southeast Boulevard/Livestock Way and Manks Road.
