Australia Day award nominations open

Cardinia Council are encouraging locals to nominate a star in their community for the council’s 2025 Australia Day Awards, with nominations now open.

Award categories include Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

Nominees must be Australian citizens who live, work, or study in Cardinia Shire and have made a noteworthy contribution during 2024.

Young Citizen of the Year nominees must be aged 25 or under on 26 January 2025, Senior Citizen of the Year nominees must be aged 70 years or over on 26 January 2025, Community Event of the Year nominees must have been held between November 2023 and November 2024 at a physical location in Cardinia Shire or hosted online by a not-for-profit organization based in Cardinia Shire.

Previous award winners are not eligible to win in the same category for at least five years.

Nominations close at midnight on Monday 4 November 2024.
