Making way for a new road bridge in Beaconsfield

Works are progressing in removing the level crossing at Station Street in Beaconsfield by building a road bridge over the rail line, with road closures planned for late September.

The Level Crossing Removal Project team will construct a new roundabout at the intersection of Station Street, Beaconsfield Avenue and Goff Street, with the intersection set to be closed from 5pm Friday 20 September until 7pm Sunday 6 October.

Detours will be via Kenilworth Avenue, Brunt Road and Princes Highway or Kenilworth Avenue, Soldiers Road, Bryn Mawr Boulevard and Princes Highway.

Works will run continuously from 5pm on Friday 20 September to 7pm on Saturday 21 September and then from 7am to midnight on Thursday 26 September.

Standard work hours are Monday to Sunday 7am to 7pm, with local residents and road users advised of increased construction activity, noise, and vibration, temporary closure of roads and lanes, detours and reduced speed limits and lighting for safe working conditions at night.

Bus stops located along the 836 and 926 routes will close along Kenilworth Avenue, Soldiers Road and Beaconsfield Avenue from 5pm on Friday 20 September to 11.59pm on Sunday 6 October.

Sections of footpaths around the intersection of Station Street, Beaconsfield Avenue and Goff Street will be closed from 5pm on Friday 20 September to Thursday 26 September.

Local pedestrian detours will be via Souter Street, Horner Street, Princes Highway, Goff Street and Beaconsfield Avenue.

The Station Street project includes construction and piling works, ground improvement works and building bridge structures to make way for the new road bridge to open in 2025.
