All outbound lanes of the Princes Highway were closed between Cardinia Road and Thewlis Road in Pakenham, due to a collision on the Princes Highway involving a car and a motorcycle, with one person airlifted to hospital.

Paramedics were called to a collision in Pakenham around 2.35pm on Wednesday 14 August, with Advanced Life Support (ALS), Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedics and an air ambulance attending the scene.

A man in his 50s with a serious lower body injury was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

Drivers avoided the closure by using the Princes Freeway and McGregor Road, as well as accessing Grandvue Boulevard.

The closure was under the control of Victoria Police with the road re-opened hours later after investigations were completed.

Traffic was severely backed up along Cardinia Road both ways and along Princes Highway, with reports also highlighting congestion on McGregor Road.
