McGregor Road has reopened early as the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) wraps up works under the rail line.
Opening at 6pm on Monday 12 August, crews removed the old rail line, repaved the road, did new landscaping works and installed an all-new signalling system.
The signalling system is as of yet not operational. The road will be duplicated under the rail line at a later time.
LXRP thanked McGregor Road traders and Pakenham locals for their patience during these works.
The southbounds lanes of McGregor Road remain closed between Webster Way and the Princes Freeway as part of works in the Pakenham Roads Upgrade and will remain so until September.
More works at the new roundabout on Main Street will be conducted next week, the road will be closed at the rail line from 7am, Tuesday 20 August to 7pm, Friday 23 August.
During this time, crews will be conducting finishing works on the new roundabout.
