Works are continuing at Station Street in Officer, where the level crossing has been permanently closed to traffic to allow for the boom gates to be removed recently.

Motorists can now use the new Brunt Road bridge in Beaconsfield which opened in April 2024, as well as the nearby Siding Avenue underpass to cross the rail line.

Crews have been working to build a new pedestrian connection on the north of the rail line, connecting existing paths on either side of Station Street and improving access to Officer Station.

Works have also progressed to build a shared use path along Officer South Road, improving safety and access to Officer station.

Works at Station Street are expected to continue until late 2024 to improve the road condition, including signage and lighting, as well as planting 3000 new trees, shrubs and grasses.

With 6 near misses at the level crossing since 2012, the Level Crossing Removal Project planned for the removal to improve safety and reduce congestion.
