Truck blocks Main Street

A B-Double truck temporarily blocked Pakenham’s Main Street today after a failed attempt to do a U-turn at the brand-new roundabout under the rail bridge.

With McGregor Road closed due to works, at around 10.30am on Friday 9 August the two main arteries of Pakenham were closed off at the rail line.

Fortunately, residents were not blocked off for an extended period as Pakenham Towing swiftly came to the rescue, freeing the truck in approximately 20 minutes.

A tough day at work for the truck driver, locals were quick to laugh at the situation.

There is a sign on Bald Hill Road before the roundabout warning that trucks beyond 23t are prohibited through Main Street.

The roundabout under the rail bridge on Main Street was recently transformed, with the old rail line ripped up and the road repaved with adjacent footpath and landscaping work.

Done as part of the Level Crossing Removal Project, unfortunately, some of that hard work was squashed with the truck damaging a part of the new landscaping both on the roundabout and the surrounding area.
