New funding for Catholic school construction projects

The Diocese of Sale community has celebrated the State Government’s recent announcement of $30 million of capital funding to support construction projects at Catholic schools across the diocese.

Provided under the Victorian Government Capital Funding Program for Non-Government Schools and allocated via Catholic Capital Grants (Victoria) Limited, five proposed Catholic school building projects estimated to commence in 2025 would each receive $6 million in funding towards new stages of construction, being:

* St Josephine Bakhita Catholic Primary School, Clyde North: Stage 2;

* A new Catholic Primary School (Cardinia Creek South), Clyde: Stage 1;

* A new primary school – St Oscar Romero Catholic Primary School, Drouin: Stages 1 and 2; and

* St Angela of the Cross Catholic Primary School, Warragul: Stage 3.

Bishop of Sale Most Reverend Greg Bennet said he was delighted with the announcement of the State Government’s funding support.

“As a significant provider of Catholic Education throughout the Diocese, we are delighted to continue our dedication and commitment to high quality Catholic education for many years ahead,” he said.

Diocese of Sale director of Catholic education Paul Velten said new Catholic primary schools were needed in the rapidly growing areas of Drouin, Clyde, and Clyde North to cater for families seeking high quality and affordable Catholic education for their children.

“We are most grateful to the Victorian Government for its continued support and recognition of the importance of Catholic school capital infrastructure in our diocese through these grants,” he said.
