Grand opening for Kooweerup kinder

Early learning for Kooweerup received a boost recently, with Bass MP Jordan Crugnale officially opening the new KU Kooweerup Kindergarten.

Located within Kooweerup Primary School, the kindergarten has offered 66 new kinder places for local families and features a maternal and child health consulting room, as well as an outdoor play space and modern and custom-built spaces.

The kinder has begun offering free kindergarten sessions to three and four-year-olds two days a week, with the aim to increase session offerings throughout the year as interest grows.

Ms Crugnale said she was amazed by the new facilities and enjoyed reading a story to some of the new kindergarteners.

“This is such an impressive and much needed new kinder for this wonderful growing community and I love that it is co-located with the primary school and the secondary is right there as well,” she said.

“It means a single drop-off for parents and carers, opportunities for kids to build lifelong friendships right from the start of their educational journey and great to see the secondary students involved in the building of garden beds, and I am sure the career path opportunities will be explored as well.”

KU Children’s Services chief executive Christine Legg said she was grateful for Ms Crugnale and the State Government’s support and funding towards the kindergarten.

“We are proud to be opening KU Koo Wee Rup in partnership with the Koo Wee Rup Preschool to support the local community with high quality early childhood education and care,” she said.
