Beaconhills College Pakenham braved an icy drenching on a very icy day supporting Fight MND with Pakenham MP Emma Vulin and local Matt Strickland attending.

Students, teachers and Cardinia Shire Mayor Jack Kowarzik took the ice bucket challenge at the campus on Wednesday 12 June.

Hills local Matt Strickland – who has been a staunch campaigner ever since his diagnosis with motor neuron disease (MND) almost a decade ago – came down to speak at the event about the significance of taking on the Big Freeze and raising awareness.

Emma Vulin was also diagnosed with MND a few months ago.

Ms Vulin took to Facebook to thank the students and teachers for their support, as well the mayor who ’also took one for the team’.

Ms Vulin thanked her friend Strickland for speaking about how much these events ’mean to us and our families’.

Beaconhills College will be holding another ice bucket challenge at their Berwick campus next Wednesday 19 June. They ask residents to come along and see some of the very brave teachers get ice bucketed for a great cause.

There you can also support their fundraiser by grabbing a beanie, a sausage from the barbecue and/or scrunchie with all proceeds supporting Fight MND. You can also donate their online fundraising page at support.fightmnd.org.au/fundraisers/BeaconhillsCollege/diy-bigfreeze
