Join the Civic Concert Band

The Cardinia Civic Concert Band, a cornerstone of the local cultural scene and the oldest band in Australia dating back to the 1800s, is excited to announce that it is currently accepting new performing and patron members.

Whether you are a lover of music, an experienced musician or someone looking to rekindle your passion for playing an instrument, the band offers something for everyone.

Under the expert direction of renowned conductor Kim Thomsen, the band has flourished, delivering high-quality performances that captivate audiences and foster a love of music both locally and internationally.

Representing the Shire of Cardinia, the band has achieved international acclaim, having performed in Germany, Austria, Italy, and the Czech Republic on two separate occasions to standing ovations.

This commitment to musical excellence and community engagement makes the band a fantastic opportunity for musicians of all ages and skill levels.

The band features two ensembles: the Intermediate Band, perfect for those learning or wanting to pick their instruments back up, and the Senior Band for experienced and aspiring musicians.

This inclusive approach ensures that there is a place for everyone in the Cardinia Civic Concert Band family.

Both bands rehearse Tuesday nights in the Pakenham area, serving the local community and participating in Shire events.

The band fosters and prides itself on belonging, service, acceptance, inclusion, quality music education, a place for personal expression, and is uniquely the only physical activity that allows for a specialised mentoring opportunity, to where 6-year-olds sit alongside 86-year-olds contributing and supporting each other equally.

In addition to our new member opportunity, we are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming concert on the 15 September at 2pm at the Bunjil Theatre.

This event will feature the world- renowned Silvie Paladino, the distinguished MC, MP Russel Broadbent and celebrate the 30th year of Musical Direction under our Chief Conductor Kim Thomsen.

This concert promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of musical brilliance and community spirit.

Tickets will be on sale shortly via the band website or Bunjil website, and we encourage everyone to secure their seats early for this not-to- be-missed sell out event.

For more information on joining the band or purchasing concert tickets, please contact the secretary at secretary@cardiniacivicconcertband.com.au.
